Recent Jury Verdicts and Settlements

Our latest update on recent jury verdicts and settlements after the break.  Happy New Year!

CA – A jury awarded $15 million in punitive damages to a former employee who alleged she was wrongfully discharged and discriminated against because of her disability.  The California Supreme Court later reduced the award to $1.9 million.

TX – A jury awarded $70 million to a worker who was injured on the job and then sued the company’s insurer for failing to pay for job rehabilitation and training.

CA – A jury awarded $24,000 to a women’s basketball coach who alleged she was retaliated against after complaining about unequal treatment of female athletes with regard to the school’s athletic facilities.

AZ – A jury awarded $600,000 to a woman who alleged she was sexually harassed by a former police officer.

CO – A federal jury awarded $850,000 to a former Amtrak conductor who alleged he was discriminated against because of his race.
