Tidbits from this week

The Pennsylvania Labor and Employment Blog has a post on the final E-Verify Regulations here.  Government contractors will be required to use E-Verify starting January 15, 2009, to verify their employees’ eligibility to work in the United States.  The post contains links to the regulations and Q&A guides.

The FMLA Blog reports here that the new FMLA regulations will be published in the Federal Register on Monday.  A subsequent post contains a link to the regulations.  I expect there will be much blogging about the new regulations next week.

The Ohio Employer’s Law Blog has a good post reminding employers to watch out for potential legal risks in docking salaried employee’s pay to save money.  The post is here.  We recently posted a short “how to” guide on Avvo.com on a related topic — “How to Lose an Employee’s Exempt Status Under the FLSA.”

Retirement Plan Blog has a post on a new survey showing how employers are helping employees defray commuting costs.

Finally, the Word on Employment Law has a post commenting on a New York Times article about disability benefit fraud at the Long Island Railroad.

Have a nice weekend.
